The course aims to strengthen your key competences and ICT skills, with particular emphasis on the pedagogical use of Augmented Reality (AR) and innovative digital tools in school projects on Climate Crisis.
The training is fully aligned with the four pedagogical pillars of PARCCE project: Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Education for Climate Change (ECC), the Whole School Approach (WSA), and Inclusive Education (IE).
Special focus will be placed on:
- training and familiarisation with the Teacher’s Guide Toolkit, which serves as a practical handbook with instructions, examples, and scenarios for classroom use,
- the use of Augmented Reality (AR), bringing digital information (images, videos, 3D models) into real environments such as the classroom, the schoolyard, or outdoor learning sites, enriching the learning experience in an interactive, engaging, and inclusive way,
- and the introduction to the innovative methodology GAREOE (Gamification and Augmented Reality in Environmental and Outdoor Education), which combines teacher guidance with students’
autonomous research and creative expression.
Through this training, participants will gain comprehensive knowledge and skills to design and implement educational activities on Climate Change that are experiential, game-based, inclusive, and pedagogically sound.
The participants (teachers, professionals, school administrative staff) in the course are expected to:
- be willing to improve as individuals and as professionals
- have a good command of the English language
- have a laptop/desktop and access to the Internet
The course will last about 2 months: 30% of it will be synchronous via interactive teleconferencing and 70% will be asynchronous (at your own time, place and pace) on an online educational environment / LMS especially designed for this course.
From October to December 2025, there will be seven synchronous online meetings (Fridays, 18:00–20:00 CET, in English). Between meetings, trainees will study the Interactive Educational Material (IEM) and the Toolkit on the LMS.
Upon successful completion of the IOTC, participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance issued by the eLearning Lab, University of Crete, signed by the eLearning Lab Director and PARCCE project Coordinator, to add to their CVs.
The minimum course completion requirements are:
- Filling in the Registration Form
- Completion of the SELFIE for Teachers (skills profile assessment).
- Attending at least 6 out of 7 synchronous online meetings on Zoom
- Studying the IEM and GAREOE on the LMS (100%)
- Design and develop at least one Activity that merges AR (BlippAR) and gamification (ActionBound), ensuring they function together towards a common objective with a unified description
- Filling in the Final Evaluation Questionnaire for the IOTC
